PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The Okana Resort & Indoor Waterpark in Oklahoma City, OK, is an ambitious construction project that promises to be a significant attraction in the region. To ensure the highest standards of building performance, 60,000 square feet of PanelShield SA, a vapor permeable air barrier (AB) and water resistive barrier (WRB) from VaproShield, was installed. Serving as a continuous air barrier, PanelShield SA will enhance indoor air quality and reduce energy expenses for the building's owners and occupants. Its water-resistant properties provide long-lasting protection, especially when applied on gypsum sheathing, while the no-primer installation simplifies the process and reduces costs.
PanelShield SA's ability to withstand 12 months of UV and weather exposure makes it ideal for long-term phased construction projects in Oklahoma's dry and windy climate. The aggressive adhesive ensures a firm grip on gypsum sheathing, and with a drying capacity of 26 perms, it prevents moisture damage throughout the building's lifespan. Rated Class A to ASTM E84 for fire safety, PanelShield SA will provide robust protection behind the closed-joint rainscreen cladding assembly: Trespa® Meteon® HPL cladding.
The $400 million OKANA Resort will include a family-friendly riverfront hotel, spa, outdoor adventure lagoon, amphitheater, indoor waterpark, restaurants, Native American marketplace, and retail outlets. The project is scheduled for 2025 completion.
