PROJECT DESCRIPTION

VaproShield installed over 15,000 sq.ft. of SlopeShield Plus SA, 80,000 sq.ft. of RevealShield SA Self-Adhered, and WallShield IT Integrated Tape on a new middle income housing project in Seattle. The project used eco-friendly, cross-laminated timber (CLT) for framing, and SlopeShield Plus SA played in integral role in protecting the mass timber floors/decks from construction damage and bulk water intrusion during and after construction. SlopeShield Plus SA proved tough and durable to machinery and tools, preserving the beauty of the CLT.

The walls were traditional steel studs and gypsum. RevealShield SA, air and water resistive barrier, will protect the walls from bulk water intrusion and was chosen for its extremely low flame spread (ASTM E84 – 0 Flame Spread).

During construction, WallShield IT was temporarily installed on the CLT beams and columns.  WallShield IT offers best-in-class moisture protection and guards against UV damage, mold, and wood discoloration.

When completed, Heartwood is anticipated to be one of Washington’s tallest CLT buildings.
