PROJECT DESCRIPTION

As part of Micron’s expansion at its Manassas, VA plant, the new mass timber building is constructed out of glulam posts and beams, as well as glulam branches around the perimeter. Protecting the expansive mass timber roof from moisture infiltration is over 60,000 sq.ft. of VaproShield’s SlopeShield Plus SA air barrier and permeable vapor retarder membrane. SlopeShield Plus SA protects the mass timber from bulk water intrusion and concurrently dries mass timber through moisture vapor diffusion. Once the mass timber dries, it will not get wetter and the mass timber deck is protected from future rain events. SlopeShield Plus SA is extremely durable to foot traffic and heavy equipment, it can withstand 180 days of UV and climate exposure, helping contractors stay on schedule despite inclement weather events.
