PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Over 375,000 sq.ft. of SlopeShield Plus Self-Adhered was installed on a low slope roof over a combination of new and existing gypsum recovery board at the Newark Liberty International Airport, Terminal C Roof Replacement project.
SlopeShield Plus SA was the only commercially available permeable (breathable) roofing underlayment that could accomplish all of the following, in a single product:
- Dry moisture between different roofing layers through vapor diffusion, eliminating the need for a double vapor barrier and associated problems
- Allow the structure to be occupied during construction, without a single leak, by shedding bulk water
- Withstand heavy foot traffic and construction machinery during final PVC roof installation
- Save tons of roof construction debris from reaching the landfill
These features drastically reduced overall project costs by eliminating labor to remove and dispose of old materials. Primerless, durable, and slip resistant, contractors installed SlopeShield Plus SA without jeopardizing crew safety or disrupting the day-to-day flow of travelers.
