PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Over 120,000 sq. ft. of SlopeShield Plus SA was installed over existing roofing materials at the Tampa Airport, HCAA Project No. 6545 19 TPA Airside F Re-Roof. One of the key reasons the Architect chose SlopeShield Plus SA was its ability to breathe (due to its permeability), drying any moisture that would occur between the existing roofing material layers.
SlopeShield Plus SA was the only commercially-available permeable (breathable) roofing underlayment that could accomplish all of the following with a single product; drying-in the building during the re-roof, drying any moisture that occurs between the different roofing layers, and eliminating the need for a double vapor barrier and the problems they could create.
One of the many unique features of SlopeShield Plus SA is that it can be used over existing materials such as insulation and roof cover board. This drastically reduced the overall project costs by eliminating labor to remove and dispose of old materials.
Primerless, durable, and slip resistant, contractors installed SlopeShield Plus SA without jeopardizing crew safety or disrupting the day-to-day flow of travelers. Tampa Airport’s newly upgraded renovations are due for completion in 2021.
