PROJECT DESCRIPTION
VaproShield's WRAPSHIELD® Black was installed on the Yannell House in Chicago. It was chosen for its ease of installation to achieve air barrier continuity, high drying capacity [50 perms] and contribution to LEED certification. The Yannell house is LEED Platinum certified and is currently the highest scoring home in the LEED for Homes program. VaproShield products support sustainable building practices and efforts towards achieving LEED certification in the Energy & Atmosphere and Indoor Environmental categories throughout the spectrum of LEED products.
The Yannell house was a vision by its owner to create not only a LEED certified home, but also a Zero Net Energy Home (ZNEH) which over the course of a year, will produce at east as much energy as it uses. A superior thermal envelope, which minimizes the heating and cooling requirements of the home, is central to the Zero Net Energy principle, thus they chose VaproShield.
Goldberg General Contracting's Jake Goldberg states, “ VaproShield membranes far surpass the competition. We think VaproShield has great products.” As Custom Homes 2010 Builder of the Year, Goldberg General Contracting helped the Yannell House to overcome the dual challenges of its urban setting and northern climate.
