PROJECT DESCRIPTION
VaproShield’s WrapShield SA Self-Adhered was installed on 9 multi-dimensional modules that form Educare of Los Angeles at Long Beach. The contractor American Modular Systems (AMS) collaborated with Educare, Dougherty Architects, and LBUSD to ‘modularize’ the design and install a self-adhered WRB/ Air-barrier membrane pre-construction for significant cost and time savings.
WrapShield SA Self-Adhered WRB/Air Barrier was ideal for the project, as it was easily applied directly to the modular units during factory fabrication. Crews simply removed the recyclable release film and rolled over the membrane to ensure adhesion—with a comfortable 30 minutes allowed for repositioning—thereby reducing scrap. In addition, WrapShield SA Self-Adhered’s high drying capacity will help to mitigate potential moisture damage within the building envelope, and control air infiltration, saving energy and improving indoor air quality – two key priorities in modular building design.
The 31,483 sq. ft. Educare of Los Angeles at Long Beach is the first integrated two-story and single-story campus for AMS, and will provide quality learning spaces that are solar-ready and site-optimized for renewable energy.
