PROJECT DESCRIPTION
40,000 sq. ft of WrapShield SA Self-Adhered was installed on Erlanger Children’s Hospital, an award-winning project located in the heart of Chattanooga, TN. The $45 Million-dollar structure features a high-performance building envelope assembly consisting of multiple substrates, VaproShield WRB/Air Barrier solutions, exterior rigid insulation, and façade materials.
WrapShield SA Self-Adhered was installed over gypsum sheathing with jobsite hand tools and 2-person bucket lift, easily accommodating the phase-construction schedule. VaproMat, a lightweight, hydrophobic filter fabric with a polypropylene drainage matrix, was applied over WrapShield SA Self-Adhered providing a cost-effective drainage cavity behind the ultra high performance concrete (UHPC) façade.
RevealShield SA Self-Adhered—black, UV-stable WRB/Air Barrier—was installed behind the building’s open-joint panels creating the desired black reveal between panel joints.
Rough openings were flashed with a combination of VaproFlashing SA Self-Adhered and VaproLiqui-Flash, together with the field membrane they created a total solution-based approach to the building envelope. VaproShield membranes and components are designed and tested to work together, drastically reducing the risk of moisture-related damage.
Erlanger Children’s Hospital is slated to open December 2018.
