WrapShield SA Self-Adhered
Hilton Cleveland Convention Center Hotel relied on WrapShield SA Self-Adhered (orange) to ensure a smooth, cold weather construction and superior building longevity.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Located in the heart of downtown Cleveland, the Hilton Cleveland Downtown (HBD) relied on WrapShield SA® Self-Adhered to ensure a smooth, cold weather construction and superior building longevity. The largest hotel project to be constructed in downtown Cleveland, the 32-story, 600 room HCD broke ground in April 2014 and lists an estimated completion date in 2016. In order to meet the deadline, builders needed a building membrane that could withstand exposure through two fiercely cold Midwestern winters.
WrapShield SA® Self-Adhered is designed for low temperature applications, and this durable, tear resistant, water resistive air barrier membrane is totally self-adhering in temperatures as low as 20°F. WrapShield SA can withstand up to 6 months of direct exposure to elements such as wind, rain and snow. This proven reliability allowed the construction team of the HCD to stay on track regardless of the weather forecast.
Once completed, the HCD will connect to the Cleveland Convention Center, the Global Center for Health Innovation, and the downtown Mall B. This valuable design element will allow for easy access to some of the city’s top attractions. The Hilton Cleveland will also house a six-story podium, featuring ballrooms, ample retail space, and a rooftop bar.
